Frequently asked questions about velvet shoes for women
Which velvet Mary Janes do we recommend?
Velvet transforms a simple Mary Jane into a piece with a completely different character. Its soft, velvety texture, with that matte finish that absorbs light instead of reflecting it, provides a depth and visual richness that is hard to match. It is a material that naturally gives the shoe presence, without the need for embellishments.
A velvet Mary Janedoesn't need extra details to stand out: the material already does all the work.
At Ganzitos, the model that best represents this is the Dana Magenta Velvet: a velvet Mary Jane with a click closure, a 1 cm heel, 100% lambskin lining and insole, and a microgel footbed.
If you prefer a more versatile color for everyday wear, black velvet Mary Janeshave that combination of elegance and practicality that makes them suitable for any outfit.
All women's velvet Mary Janesavailable in different colors and finishes can be found in our Velvet Shoescollection or, if you prefer to see different models, we recommend visiting our women's Mary Janescollection.
Are velvet flats a good option for everyday wear?
Yes, all Ganzitos models are ideal for all-day wear because we meet the highest standards in the construction of a comfortable and elegant women's shoe.We list them here:
Lambskin. All our velvet shoeshave 100% lambskin lining and insole. This completely changes the wearing experience: lambskin regulates foot temperature, absorbs moisture, and does not create the stuffy effect that synthetic lining does when the foot has been inside the shoe for hours. A women's velvet ballet flatwith that lining is a shoe you can wear from Monday to Friday without your foot reminding you at the end of the day.
The microgel insole. It is the component we most undervalue until we try it for the first time: it cushions the impact of every step in a way no standard padding can, and distributes body weight more evenly over the sole of the foot. In a flat shoe, where there is no heel to absorb some of the impact, this makes an enormous difference on long days.
The last and the sole. We manufacture in Alicante, in a family factory where each shoe passes through up to 40 artisan hands. This means that the last is crafted so that the shoe does not pinch when cold or cause chafing when the foot swells with heat, one of the most common problems in mass-produced velvet shoeswhere the last is generic.
Our sole is flexible and non-slip, certified Hand Made in Spain, which makes the foot work naturally with each step instead of adapting to a rigid sole that forces it.

Which velvet shoes do we choose for a wedding or evening event?
Velvet and evening events are a combination that never fails, and there's a physical reason behind it: the fabric absorbs artificial light in a way that smooth leather or patent leather cannot.
Under the lighting of a room, velvet doesn't shine or sparkle; it deepens, looking richer, denser, more elegant. It's the material that works best in formal contexts and one of the few that can compete with metallics without needing sequins.
For weddings and events where you want to make a statement without sacrificing being able to last all night, velvet heelswith a wide heel are our most honest bet.
The Roberta Nude Velvet Sandal— with a 6.5 cm wide heel, nude velvet, lambskin, and microgel — is the model we most recommend for wedding guests precisely for this reason: it has all the elegance of classic nude velvet heels but with the stability and comfort provided by a wide block heel.
For those who prefer a more daring color, the Roberta Blue Velvetis our favorite evening alternative: a deep blue, closed-toe velvet heel shoethat transforms any look into something memorable.
