Suede is one of the most elegant and attractive materials used in footwear manufacturing, but it also generates the most uncertainty when the first stain appears.

This is no coincidence: its delicate, natural texture makes it more susceptible to dirt than smooth leather, and if not treated correctly, improper cleaning can damage it irreversibly. After years of working with and manufacturingsuede shoes, we have perfected an effective and safe care method. These are our recommendations:

The first thing to know aboutcleaning suede shoesis that water and conventional soap are their worst enemies.

Suede is not washed; it is dry cleaned. For basic maintenance, you need a specificsoft-bristle brushfor suede: it removes accumulated dust and restores the nap to its natural direction.

If the dirt is dry, always brush in the same direction without pressing. For specific stains, a special suede eraser does what no liquid product can do without damaging the fabric.

Where more precision is needed is incleaning light-colored suede shoessuch as beige, nude, or camel, because any stain is visible from afar.

The most useful trick for these shades: act fast. A recent stain is a stain that will go away. A clean white eraser works surprisingly well for surface scuffs before resorting to specific products, and if the stain is greasy, a little talcum powder left on for a couple of hours absorbs the oil before brushing.

The process ofcleaning suede shoesat home does not require expensive products; it requires speed and the right tools.

The most overlooked trick: the best way toclean suede shoesis to apply a waterproofing spray before the first use. This preventatively protects the material from stains and moisture and makes a huge difference in durability.

Suedeballet flatshave a texture that visually softens the shoe and gives it a discreet elegance. This quality makes them one of the most versatile styles in the entire collection, capable of naturally adapting to very different styles and occasions. In black, they are a foolproof choice for everyday wear. In earthy tones like camel or brown, they work especially well with the warm and natural palettes of summer and transitional seasons.

One of our favorite ballet flats, when we talk about women's suede shoes, is the Penélope black suede ballet flat. It's not a specific detail that makes it special, but the sum of all of them: the V-shaped toe that slims the foot without pinching it, the suede that molds to each foot with use, and the flexible sole with microgel insole that allows you to wear it all day without feeling the passage of time.

It's the women's suede ballet flatthat never leaves our collection because year after year it's the most popular.

If you're looking for something with more structure on the instep, the Yaxi brown suede Mary Janeis the perfect alternative among women's suede Mary Janes: with a strap that crosses the instep in leather-colored suede with a buckle closure and a 1 cm heel that provides more support than a ballet flat without losing any comfort.

You can see all available models of comfortable women's suede shoes— ballet flats, Mary Janes, and more — in our complete Suede Shoescollection.

Suede breathes better than most materials. A suede sandalnaturally ventilates the foot, doesn't create the sticky effect that highly polished leather can, and conforms to the foot's shape much faster.

For everyday wear, our Silvana Suede Loaferis the women's suede flatwe recommend most for daily use: Made of natural suede with 100% lambskin lining and footbed, and a microgel insole.
